CHRISTOPHER EDWARDS - COMPUTER ENGINEER

Christopher Edwards is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among America’s Computer Engineers. Edwards is known among his colleagues at IEEE as a highly skilled and multi-talented engineer, knowledgeable in multiple fields of the industry. Designing, developing, and testing computer hardware is part of his every-day work activities, but he has spent time in various specialty areas during his career.

After graduating from MIT with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Edwards started his career with Hewlett Packard. During his ten year tenure, Edwards tested state-of-the-art products against system requirements and designs. As a lead engineer for the North American region, he investigated specialized areas including microprocessor system design, and intelligent systems for applications, globally.

After three years, Edwards optimized his potential as a lead engineer and was offered a managerial position that re-located him to California. While there, Edwards earned his Master’s degree in Computer Science at the University of California at Berkley. He excelled in the graduate program and completed his advanced degree in a year and a half. Edwards’s higher education earned him another promotion, which brought him back to the east coast as an IT Director for Hewlett Packard.

As IT Director, Edwards was responsible for all software design and testing in the North American region. He engineered software programs for new and existing systems and played a key role in building new environments for data migration.

After ten years with HP, Edwards was offered a Global IT Director position with IEEE, which he accepted. At IEEE, Edwards led a project that challenged his skills and experience. He redefined installation and operation qualifications for the Data Centers at IEEE, which made installing servers more efficient, cost effective and stable. Edwards performance held the interest of several executives who wanted to give him an opportunity to use his knowledge and experience as part of their leadership team. Edwards then became the Vice President of North America Technology Engineering and Development.

Today, twenty-five years later, Edwards continues to reside as VP at IEEE and is setting new goals annually, to lead the company in a positive direction while setting global IT standards for as long as technology will allow him to.
